On New Year’s Eve, a final reflection on the Christmas Holidays with news of the winner of the Club’s Christmas raffle.
On the Saturday before Christmas a large crowd gathered in the clubhouse for party food and the turn of the tombola. A draw for a number of bottles preceded the main prize draw. The food and prizes were sponsored by members. Thank you (you know who you are), for helping make the night such a success.
With nearly 800 tickets in the cylinder it was great that the winning ticket belonged to someone present on the night.
Receiving £380 in cash was Mr Ed Livingston, holder of pink ticket number 582.
The raffle was a fund-raising endeavour with the money raised going to a discrete project for the benefit of members – details to follow.
Thank you to all the members who bought a ticket to support the Club. He wouldn’t want me to do this, but it would be remiss if I didn’t single out Jim Black for a special mention as he took on the organisation of the raffle from the outset. Thank you.
In a similar vein, a big thank you to all who contributed to a very enjoyable Christmas Kid’s Party at the Club. The children had a brilliant time; this is a long-standing tradition at Clandeboye and one that a few generations can look back on and smile.
Don’t forget, there is no charge for this evening’s New Year’s party at the Club. ‘Shades’ will be providing the music from 9.00pm onwards, but come a bit earlier to get a good seat and enjoy a few drinks with friends.
Happy New Year to one and all. May 2020 bring you every blessing, and the odd birdie!
Fabulous afternoon. Jazz in the bar. Excellent 3 course meal and Lady Captain’s charity draw ( results to follow). Thank you Brian (chef), Pauline, Kirby and waiting staff for stepping in at the last minute to provide and serve the food.
Tickets £5.00 (kids over age 3) inc entertainment & food
Remember too drop a gift into the General Office for Santa to give out, wrapped and clearly labeled.
The Results of Lady Captains Charity ballot, which raised over £300.00 for The RNLI. Many thanks to all who took part.

Due to the ongoing changes regarding the club catering, it has been decided to change the raffle draw date.
One lucky person with the winning ticket will lift at least £315 cash.
The good news is, that there will be additional, on the night, spot prizes.
Each person present for the draw will be given a free ballet number.
10 persons will pick from the prizes on offer (wine, spirits and voucher).
The draw will now take place on Saturday 21st December at 1700hrs, so if you haven’t yet purchased your £1 ticket, to stand a chance of winning the £315, you can enter at the bar until Wednesday 18th December.
Many thanks again, for your support.
Further to my note earlier in the week, the following provides an update on the contingency arrangements we have put in place following the loss of our catering franchisee.
Starting today, the Club will be supplied with freshly made scones [, the ones members are used to,] daily.
On Saturday and Sunday, the bar will have a selection of sandwiches available for purchase. These are being supplied by local company ‘Sunflower’.
On Sunday 15th December the Jazz Brunch is going ahead. A 3-course meal for £18.50 (choice of 3 starters, 3 mains and 3 desserts) is available. Please do book in advance through the office or the bar before Sunday to allow the chef providing this service to plan ahead. Last orders will be 3.30/4pm which is slightly earlier than normal. The band will be playing from 2.30pm to 4.30pm and the Lady Captain will be doing her Charity Draw at 5pm.
As mentioned previously the ‘Early Birds’ have moved their Christmas lunch to Tuesday 17th December when we have arranged for an outside caterer to fulfil their booking, and also cater the Christmas shotgun meal on that day.
The Christmas Draw will take place on Saturday 21st December at 5pm, the prize will be half the pot at that time and there will also be additional spot prize draws for those present on the day.
The Christmas Children’s party will go ahead on Sunday 22nd December, catering cover has been arranged for the children. Again, please let the office know if you are planning to attend.
New Year’s Eve – event is still going ahead as the band was already in place. As it stands, we are still trying to secure Catering for this event however we will go ahead on an entertainment only basis regardless. We will update you all as soon as we can.
We look forward to welcoming our new catering franchisee ‘R S Young Catering’ to the Club commencing 25th January.
Thank you for your understanding and patience in the circumstances. Your continued custom and support for forthcoming events is much appreciated.
As you will be aware, the Club will be welcoming a new catering franchisee in January.
Our existing provider has indicated that he will not now be working the full notice period until early in the New Year and has left the Club with immediate effect.
With apologies for the inconvenience, contingency arrangements are being put in place to cover the intervening period until our new caterer joins us.
The ‘Early Birds’ have moved their Christmas lunch to Tuesday 17th December when we have arranged for an outside caterer to fulfil their booking, and cater the Christmas shotgun meal also on that day.
We have made a number of approaches to other providers to seek to fulfil bookings in the coming days and weeks. An update will be provided to those organisers of scheduled lunches for groups such as ‘The T&Ts’ and ‘The Owls’ as soon as possible.
Please note that regardless of catering arrangement outcome the entertainment booked for Jazz Sunday, Kids Party & New Years Eve will go ahead as planned.
Thank you for your understanding and patience in the circumstances.
We will keep you posted.
The Social Convener has made new arrangement with BANGOR CABS, taxi company, to facilitate members wishing to avail of a taxi service from the Club..
A free phone has been installed and is situated on a table outside the dining room.
Members wishing to book a taxi simply lift the receiver and they will automatically be connected to Bangor Cabs.
Use of this phone means members will receive priority in the allocation of a taxi being dispatched to Clandeboye Golf Club.
As this is a new incentive, feedback regarding this service would be welcome.
Please contact Stevie Stewart (07787 726112) in this regard.
It is hoped that this service will be well received by members wishing to socialise at the Club.
